Kukri
Overall, my personal favorite large knife shape. This is a durable knife designed to be used hard. It sports a full tang construction and is forged from reclaimed 5160 high carbon steel. I sourced the steel from the leaf springs in an abandoned 1940’s Hudson Motor Car.
It has a dark iron wood handle accented with purple inlay and oak pins. The large brass pommel that extends down for retention, making sure this knife stays in the hand even during vigorous chopping.
The massive sheath is set up for horizontal carry and can accommodate a 2’’ belt. I used heavy weight black chrome tanned leather to make the sheath. The retention strap is set up with clasps for make sure the knife stays put.
