This is one of those knives that I keep picking up and swinging around in the shop.
It’s a Chinese cleaver, made with 1095 high carbon steel. I ground the blade as thin as i dared, removing as much weight as possible from it to keep the total weight down as its a very large knife. Then I used an exquisite piece of Stabilized spalted maple i’ve been saving for the last couple of years for the handle slabs, with ironwood liners to contrast the color and add some strength for the more vigorous choppers out there.
I was so tickled with result; with the weight, the feel and the balance there was no choice but to add Schwarzenegger’s Conan to blade.

Blade hardness: ±62HRC (differentially hardened)
